Can intuition actually be trained?
Years ago, while researching psychology studies for a film production company, I came across a book on remote viewing. I knew nothing about psychic abilities at that point, and what I learned blew my mind.
Alan Steinfeld joins me to explain remote viewing, its use in a CIA-funded program, and what it teaches us about intuition. Host of New Realities, his long-running interview series on consciousness, and author of Making Contact, Alan learned directly from Russell Targ, one of the physicists who developed the remote viewing program at Stanford Research Institute.
Alan calls the practice “the yoga of the mind.” We discuss how it works and how it trains you to discern the difference between intuitive impressions and the analytical mind.
Key takeaways:
- Remote viewing is a protocol, not a rare gift. It can be taught, practiced, and tested.
- Intuition is knowing, not thinking. The impression arrives first, and the explaining comes after.
- Set your intention on the target, then get out of the way. The skill is in the receiving.
- Impressions come in pieces. Stay with colors, shapes, sizes, and textures. Share what comes through before interpreting what it means.
- Checking your impressions against the actual target is what builds discernment.
- Remote viewing, psychic reading, and mediumship are the same muscle used in different ways.
As Alan puts it, we are not the radio; we are the signal. The information is already here. The practice is learning how to receive it.
